Samuel L. Jackson
Jackson was born on December 21, 1948 in Washington D.C.. Jackson grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee as an only child. His father lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and died there by alcoholism. Jackson was raised by his mother, Elizabeth Jackson, who worked in a factory, but later a supply buyer for a Mental institution. Jackson went to segregated Schools, and graduated from Riverside High School in Chattanooga. He played the french horn during 3-12 grade. He planned to become a Marine Biologist and went to Morehouse College in Atlanta. He switched from Marine Biologist to Actor after taking a few acting classes. He co-founded the "just us theater" before graduating in 1972.
In 1968 during Martin Luther King Jr. assassination Jackson was at his funeral in Atlanta as an usher. After the funeral Jackson went to Memphis to join in the equal rights protest march. During the march Jackson said he was angry,but not surprised that this happened, he knew if something changed there will be a cost for it. In 1969 Jackson and a few other students held Morehouse college board of trustees hostage in campus until the college reforms its policies. The college did what he asked,but he was charged with unlawful confinement and second degree felony, and was suspended from college for two years. After two years Jackson came back to earn his bachelor degree in art in drama in 1972. During the two years Jackson went to Los Angles and became a social worker, but then return to Atlanta. In Atlanta Jackson met with some important people the Black Power Movement . Jackson enjoyed being in the Black Power Movement, he especially enjoyed it when when the movement began to buy guns. Jackson then moved to Los Angles because his mother told him to after she was told that he would be killed if he remains in the movement by the FBI, this happened before Jackson could truly be involved in the movement.
